Albuquerque police arrest 2 in motel shooting case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Police say they have arrested two men in connection with the shooting death of another man at an Albuquerque motel.

Officer Tasia Martinez says arrest warrants were [auth] issued for 19-year-old Lloyd Aguilar and 20-year-old Jose Rios. The police department’s gang unit took Aguilar into custody on Tuesday and Rios was arrested Thursday.

Martinez says both men were booked without incident.

The men are facing charges in the April 30 death of 28-year-old Paul Ayala. He was found before dawn that day, unconscious and bleeding in the parking lot of a Super 8 Motel.

Witnesses told police at the time that they saw a man shoot Ayala and drive away in his SUV.
