Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013, at the 7th Day Adventist Church, corner of Jaffa and South Union for Christine Hughes, age 90, of Roswell, who passed away on August 12, 2013. Pastor Ken Davis will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Christine was born July 7, 1923, in Dallas, Texas, to Hugh Christopher Ranft and Annie Delia Bailey Ranft. They have preceded her in death, as well as her first husband, Richard Allen Ranft; a son, Philip Allen Ranft; two brothers, three sisters and a grandchild, Jerri Price.
Christine married Lowell B. Hughes on November 15, 1980, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He survives her at the family home.
She is also survived by a son: Steve Ranft and his wife, Bonnie, of Roswell; two sisters: Peggy Marie Hollon, of Texas, and Dorothy Jean Moore, of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Christine worked as a loan closer at Security National Bank. After her marriage to Lowell, she retired from the bank and became the bookkeeper for Hughes Electric Motor Co. She was a member of the American Business Woman’s Association.
Christine was one of the founding members of the 7th Day Adventist Church. She was a devout Christian, devoted to her beliefs and was a follower.
