Stacey Jaye Heine, 60, of Stilwell, Kan., passed away at his home on July 28, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at McGilley State Line Chapel. Visitation will be pri[auth] or to the service starting at 2 p.m. Stacey had an unselfish desire to give to others, so in lieu of flowers the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 6800 West 93rd Street, Overland Park, KS 66212 or the charity of your choice.
Stacey was born July 5, 1953, in Roswell to Jerry and Carolyn (Christen) Heine. Stacey married Jan (Elliott) on Oct.18, 1980. He was a mechanical engineer for Honeywell for 29 years before retiring in 2005. Stacey began his second career in 2006 as a substitute teacher at Gardner-Edgerton High School, where he served as a mentor for students involved with the National Engineering Design Challenge (NEDC). He was passionate about teaching kids and making a difference in their lives. Stacey’s other great passion in life was flying. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and was able to fulfill a lifelong dream when he purchased and piloted his own ultralight aircraft. Stacey loved life and people. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him and adored him.
He is survived by his parents: Jerry and Carolyn Heine, of Carlsbad; his wife, Jan Heine, of Stilwell, Kan.; son, Jason (Jessica) Heine and grandchildren: Reegan and Gavin, all of Olathe, Kan.; son, Jeff Heine, of Prairie Village, Kan.; siblings: Bruce Heine, of Lubbock, Texas; Randy (Lori) Heine, Kent Heine and Joan Grimes, of Carlsbad; Chris Heine of Amarillo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
