Graveside services will be held for Melvin Neal, 91, of Lovington, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at South Park Cemetery with Pastor Bill Whitehead of Roswell Baptist Church. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Melvin passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013.
Melvin was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Miston, Tenn., to Floyd and Irene (Jones) Neal. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, he was in the South Pacific during WWII in the US Army, and he was a barber and school bus driver in Tennessee for many years, enjoyed fishing and tinkering with lawn mowers. Melvin loved Jesus Christ, his personal Lord and Savior.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Patsy, of 21 years; his daughter, Angela Bolanos, and husband, Joe, of Roswell; stepbrother, Alvin Neal, of Tennessee; grandchildren: Derek Ramirez, David Bolanos, Angelea Bolanos, Cindy Masterson, Randy Graves, Shelia Cline; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; stepchildren: Mindy, Feron, Vernon and families; his best friends Mike and Nance and his little friend (dog) Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Neal; daughter, Wilma Graves; parents, Floyd and Irene Neal; stepmom, Betty Neal.
