Flood sent rush of water into Santa Clara Canyon

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A flash flood in northern New Mexico sent a rush of water Saturday night into Santa Clara Canyon and filled it with 9 feet of water.

Santa Clara Tribal Sheriff Regis Chavarria tells the Santa Fe New Mexican ( ) that the water was staying in the channel and that homes weren’t threatened.

The flooding came after as much as 2.7 inches of rain fell over the canyon.
