Guillermo G. Pacheco, 87, of Alamogordo, peacefully passed away to be with our heavenly Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 12, 2013. Guillermo was born in Roswell on April 21, 1926, to Serafin Pacheco and Antonia Guevara Pacheco.
He was a U.S. Navy Reserve Veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area during WWII. He received the WWII Victory Medal.
Guillermo is survived by son Edward Pacheco of Rio Rancho; daughters, Eduvina Najera and husband Juan of Las Cruces, Esmeralda Pacheco of the family home and Elma Pacheco of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nora and husband Bobby Garcia of Rialto, Calif., Mary McIntyre of Anaheim, Calif., and Delia Gonzales of Roswell; two brothers, Johnny Pacheco and wife Vickie of Roswell and Israel Pacheco and wife Rosie of Queen Creek, Ariz., and many loving and devoted nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ramona D. Pacheco; parents, Serafin and Antonia Pacheco; brothers, Alex, Daniel, Sammy, and Ernest; and sisters Ermina Arrendondo, Emma Bell and Lupe Duran.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 19, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 705 Delaware, Alamogordo. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. Mike Lindsey, celebrant.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
The family will greet visitors from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at Hamilton O’Dell Funeral Home, 1334 N. Scenic Drive, Alamogordo.
Pallbearers will be Neal Pacheco, Michael Najera, Javier Pacheco, Matthew Najera, Antonio Pacheco, Augustine Montoya, and Marissa Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers will be all his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
