Congresswoman reunited with dog

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — After 13 months on the lam, U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham says her beloved dog Kiwi is home.

Grisham says the Shih Tzu mix turned up this week at an Albuquerque [auth] veterinary clinic.

The dog disappeared last June after being scared by a hot air balloon. Her disappearance prompted a feverish community search and daily visits to the city pet shelter.

Lujan Grisham says Kiwi showed up just a few months after her husband passed away in 2004, jumping into her car after she pulled into her driveway on a rainy day. Lujan Grisham says the dog helped her cope with her loss and quickly became a member of the family.

Lujan Grisham says she has no idea where Kiwi was, but she looks forward to catching up.
