Cops ready to serve more than justice

June 29, 2013 • Local News

The Roswell Police Department and Chaves County Sheriff’s Office will give a whole new meaning to serving the public at their Cops and Country Cookin’ benefit lunch today. Officers and deputies will wait tables as celebrity waiters and waitresses from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at High [auth] Chaparral Café, 5500 N. Main St.

People can order from High Chaparral’s standard menu; however, the tips given to the officers will go to support Esperanza House and the RPD’s Explorers Program. Esperanza House provides crisis counseling and victim assistance, along with a number of different services. The Explorer Program gives young people the opportunity to work with law enforcement, with training in First Aid and CPR.

The Cops and Country Cookin’ lunch benefit could be a way to round out the day for those who plan to attend Cosmicon where they will show the films from last year’s Film Festival at the Roswell Mall, or visit the Animal Welfare Alliance Adoption Event at Tractor Supply.

RPD Public Information Liaison Sabrina Morales encourages people to tip the celebrity waiters and waitresses well.
