Santa Fe man gets prison for Kmart armed robbery

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A Santa Fe man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for robbing a store of DVDs at gunpoint in 2011.

Prosecutors say 22-year-old Angelo Gutierrez also was sentenced [auth] Monday to three years of supervised release.

Gutierrez and his older brother were accused of the armed robbery of a Kmart store in Santa Fe on Oct. 21, 2011.

Authorities say Gutierrez had previously had been convicted of residential burglary and larceny.

He’s been in federal custody since his arrest in February 2012.

Gutierrez pleaded guilty in December to using and carrying a firearm in relation to a crime of violence and to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

His 43-year-old brother, Anthony Gutierrez, was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison in March.
