Las Vegas judge spares pit bull that bit woman

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (AP) — A judge in Las Vegas has spared a bit bull that bit a woman multiple times.

The Las Vegas Optic ( ) reports that Municipal Court Judge Eddie Trujillo has [auth] ordered the dog’s release and returned to Franchesca Saiz.

According to Trujillo, animal control officers corroborated Saiz’s story about what led her dog to bite Renee Maestas during a April 27 confrontation on Saiz’s property.

Maestas alleged that Saiz lured her onto her property and then ordered the dog to attack her, while Saiz said her dog was defending her when Maestas came onto her property to fight her.

Trujillo said he normally has “zero tolerance” for biting dogs.

He said he would have had the dog put down if the incident didn’t happen on private property.
