NM man gets 10-year prison term in child sex abuse

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say a Tohajiilee man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for child sex abuse.

Prosecutors say 41-year-old Nathan R. Platero [auth] also was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Albuquerque to 10 years of supervised release.

He will be required to register as a sex offender after he completes his prison sentence.

Platero was arrested in January 2012.

Prosecutors say he later admitted to engaged in and attempted to engage in sexual contact with a juvenile girl between January 2005 and December 2006.

Authorities say the abuse occurred in Platero’s home in Tohajiillee, which is on the Navajo Nation.
