Marilyn Ellen Faust peacefully left this world on May 8, 2013, at Aspen Ridge Alzheimer’s Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo. She was 80 years old.

Marilyn was born in Bradford, Pa., on June 4, 1932, to Robert and Ellen Williamson. She attended school in Bradford and graduated from Bradford High School. On Dec. 31, 1951, she married Walter Michaels Jr. In 1953, they moved to Roswell.

Marilyn worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Stardust Lounge, Gay Nineties Package Store, and Old [auth] West Package Store. In later years she taught Adult Basic Education at Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell.

In 1954, she gave birth to Kelly Michaels (Mattson) and in 1961, gave birth to Pat Michaels. In 1975, she and Walter divorced, and she married Lawrence Faust. They were married until his death in June 2003.

Marilyn was a woman of strong faith and attended Gateway Baptist Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and loved working in her yard and caring for her flowers and plants. She loved dogs and had many pets that were close to her heart.

In 2005, she moved to Grand Junction, Colo., where her daughter lived. She resided in assisted living and nursing facilities due to Alzheimer’s disease. Her latest home was Aspen Ridge where she was loved and cared for by people she considered family.

She is survived by one son, Pat (Vondell) Michaels, who resides in Lago Vista, Texas; one daughter, Kelly (Chuck) Mattson, who resides in Grand Junction, Colo., and one sister Myrna (Bill) Anderson, of Orchard Park, N.Y. She is also survived by one stepson, Larry Faust Jr., of Indianapolis, and two stepdaughters Sherry (Gary) Haltom, of Indianapolis, and Marty (Jay) Fox of, Austin, Texas. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two stepbrothers and husband.

A celebration of life will be held at Gateway Baptist Church on June 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Roswell Humane Society.
