ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a man in an Albuquerque homicide case involving a woman’s body found in the trunk of a burning car.
Albuquerque homicide detectives arrested 20-year-old Shaun Ryals on Wednesday.
The body was found March 19 behind a store near Interstate 40.
Police say Ryals is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on a $100,000 cash-only bond on suspicion of an open count of murder, aggravated arson and tampering with evidence.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Guadalupe Morales.
Authorities say her body had more than 20 stab wounds.
Police investigators say Ryals and Morales allegedly argued at his home before the stabbing.
They believe Ryals put Morales’ body into the trunk of a stolen car, drove it to a location and set the vehicle on fire.
