Lynda Whalen, director of Volunteer Services at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, is speaking at Healthsense at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, at Senior Circle in the Wilshire Center, 2801 N. Whalen will discuss the benefits and perks of being part of the hospital Auxiliary as well as the numerous volunteer opportunities and what is done with funds raised. Art at the Zoo
Friends of the Roswell Zoo and the Roswell Fine Art League and Gallery will have an Art at the Zoo on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We will be having a show-and-sell, plus demonstrations on art and clay. Taste of Italy
Come experience “A Taste of Italy” Italian dinner, a silent auction, a mini-concert and a grand prize drawing all as part of a fundraiser to help two local teens make it to Europe to perform this summer. The fundraiser/dinner event will take place Saturday, May 18, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 501 N. Sycamore Ave. Dinner will be served from 6-7:30 p.m. The event will benefit McKaylee Todd and Bethany Blewett, members of the 2013 Sound of American Honors Chorus and Band European Music Education Concert Tour. Xcellent Music at the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art presents the debut of The Winds at Bitter Lake, a Suite for Chamber Orchestra by Ted Schooley, and a Quartet for Two Violas and Two Cellos by Dr. Sara Montgomery. Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to teaching public speaking and leadership. Roswell is lucky enough to have a club which is in need of additional members.
