Man dies after attempted robbery, carjacking

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say a man is dead after crashing a vehicle he had carjacked following an attempted robbery at a convenience store in Albuquerque’s North Valley.

[auth] Bernalillo County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Aaron Williamson says the attempted robbery happened Tuesday afternoon at a convenience store at 4th Street and Alameda Blvd.

When the robbery attempt failed, the man carjacked a blue sedan in the parking lot. He crashed a short time later and rolled the car.

The man was ejected and died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

Williamson says the investigation is ongoing.

Roads in the area were temporarily closed.
