Police Blotter: Man knocks on door, asks for checkbook

Police were called to [auth] the 2700 block of North Wilshire Avenue, Saturday, where a male subject knocked on the door to a residence and asked the victim to show him his checkbook. The victim refused, but gave the man $10. The subject was described as blond, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 250 pounds.

• Police responded to the 1000 block of Heather Drive, Friday, after a subject broke into a locked U.S. Marshal Service vehicle and removed a Glock pistol, valued at $500, high capacity 9 mm magazine and a duty baton.
• Police were called to the 900 block of West 13th Street, Friday, where subjects removed a Maytag electric stove and a refrigerator of unknown make from a residence.

Vehicle theft
Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of West McGaffey Street, Saturday. The victim told officers that he had parked his 1985 brown Chevy pickup around the corner and was “serenading someone.” When he returned to his vehicle, he discovered it missing, along with its contents — a weight bench, a cell phone and guitar case. The vehicle was later recovered with most of its contents intact. However, the CD players, speakers and some cash had been stolen.
