Memorial services will be held at a later date for Jesse Lofton, 77, of Roswell, who passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at his home.
Jesse was born in Mangum, Okla., on Dec. 16, 1935, to Whitey and Mae Cole Lofton. Jesse’s father passed away in 1936, and his mother married Lee Harris in 1937. To that union were born Jesse’s siblings, A.D. Harris, Mary Holloway, James Harris, Virginia Gorman, Wilma Henderson, Wanda Crosby and Norma Williams; of those siblings, A.D., Mary and Virginia predeceased Jesse, along with his parents.
Jesse was a Korean veteran in the Army. Jesse also served four years in the Air Force. He was a great brother and a good person. He enjoyed reading and quiet.
He is survived by his daughter Maxine Menefield, of Amarillo; his sons, Tim Lofton, of Santa Fe, and Steve Lofton, of Pampa, Texas; his brother James Harris. of Roswell; his sisters, Wilma Henderson, of Pampa; Wanda Harris Crosby, of Baltimore, and Norma Williams, of Newport Beach, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a special aunt Bessie White of Lubbock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darnel Boyce, Michael Richardson, Jerry Richardson, Dickey Davis, Damian Cheatam and Andrea Cheatam.
