A memorial service for Jesus (Jesse) G. Vega III, 43, of Roswell, will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Patterson officiating. Jesse passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz. His cremains will be interred in South Park Cemetery with military honors. A reception will follow at the Eagles Hall.
Jesse was born in Roswell, Aug. 2, 1969, to Jesus G. Vega Jr. and Clara Mendiola (Murphy). He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He grew up in Roswell, Santa Fe, and Tucson. Jesse joined the Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Iraq War. He had a gift of artistic and drawing ability. He was very talented at creating things with his hands, such as sketches and models. Jesse was also a good student. After working professionally in the drafting/architecture field, he returned to school to finish his degree, earning an associate’s degree in engineering and design technology. He graduated with honors and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. Jesse was awarded a special scholarship to continue his education and was presented that honor by Gov. Susana Martinez. He was a man of many talents and capabilities. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers; a loyal friend to many; and he loved spending time with his cousins. He never seemed happier than when he gave his heart to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His family will miss his wonderful smile, but is comforted in knowing they will see him again in heaven. Jesse always told those closest to him that he “loved them like a circle.” It is a never-ending love.
He is survived by grandparents Jesus G. Vega Sr. and his wife Alice, of Roswell; grandmother Ermina Mendiola, of Roswell; his father Jesus G.
