South Union Avenue has been subjected to a rash of crimes. The area from the 3000 block to the 3400 block has been hit by burglars five times in the past 10 days.
On April 12, a resident reported $2,000 worth of items stolen. Two days later, another residence was broken into and $2,015 taken. On April 17, more than $400 worth of tools were removed from a shop.
One place was hit twice. On April 18, subjects removed five air conditioners from a locked shed. On Monday, subjects kicked in the back door of the residence and reportedly took $22,789 worth of items.
Total losses for the neighborhood are estimated at nearly $27,000. Items ranged from clothing, personal documentation, a children’s bike to electronics — such as cell phones, computers, televisions and games consoles. In each incident, damages were also reported when the culprits gained access to the buildings. Locks were cut or doors kicked in.
The Roswell Police Department urges people to stay alert and contact the RPD if they see any suspicious activities. Officers have placed the neighborhood on close patrol.
RPD spokeswoman Sabrina Morales recommended to cut down on crime: “Introduce yourself to your neighbors, or contact Steve Wolfe and start a Neighborhood Watch program.”
The Neighborhood Watch number is 622-4014.
