The Roswell Police Department responded to the 700 block of East Hendricks Street around 7 p.m. Friday and arrested Adrian Sanchez, 29, after he caused thousands of dollars worth of damages.
One of the two victims said that the male subject was shouting, swinging a bat around and creating a scene. The man told officials that he had gone outside to try and get Sanchez to calm down, and Sanchez attempted to hit him.
He returned to his residence to get a bat of his own and went outdoors where he observed Sanchez was striking a neighbor’s vehicle with his bat. He went back to his home to contact the neighbor and then called police.
The female victim told police that she received a call from the neighbor warning her that a man was beating on her husband’s antique car, a 1939 Chevy, with a baseball bat.
Sanchez broke out windows and dented the door on the passenger’s side. Sanchez also shattered the windshield and damaged the hood of the vehicle. The victim estimated the damages to the vehicle were in excess of $3,000.
In addition, he damaged the front door and window to a residence.
Officers arrived at the scene and identified Sanchez.
An RPD sergeant made contact with Sanchez who resisted arrest. Another officer assisted. Sanchez was charged with criminal damage, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
Officers transported Sanchez to the Chaves County Detention Center with a $5,000 surety bond.
