ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A police sergeant facing charges stemming from a fatal Albuquerque crash has pleaded not guilty.
Court records released Wednes day show that Albuquerque police Sgt. Adam Casaus pleaded not guilty a day after a judge ruled that the case could proceed to a trial.
A criminal complaint charges Casaus with vehicular homicide and great bodily injury by vehicle in a Feb. 10 crash that killed a 21-year-old woman and seriously injured her younger sister.
Casaus has claimed he was trying to track down a drunken driver before his police cruiser slammed into the other vehicle.
Records reportedly show that no dispatchers told Casaus to look out for a drunken driver before the crash and he logged off his last call almost four hours before the accident.
