Rena Jo Livingston Bulsterbaum, 64, passed away April 7, 2013, surrounded by family at her home in Las Cruces.
A celebration of her life will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Deming with Larry Talley officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
Rena is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Stanley Bulsterbaum of the home; one son Kary Stan Bulsterbaum of Las Cruces; one daughter Karla Jo Hess and husband Brian of Roanoke, Texas; four granddaughters, Jordan Bulsterbaum, Jaylen Bulsterbaum, Sofia Hess and Sage Hess. She is also survived by two sisters, Jean Brown and husband Wayne of Roswell and Connie Clayton and husband Lance of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother Rex Earl Livingston and wife Sharon of Chickasha, Okla., and one sister-in-law Sue Creighton and husband Bill Don of Roswell. Included in her life were beloved nephews, nieces and many friends.
Rena was born Dec. 22, 1948, in Quanah, Texas, to Rex Eugene and Para Miami Livingston. Rena spent her early life in Oklahoma and moved to New Mexico in 1962. In 1967, she married Stan Bulsterbaum and supported his professional career in New Mexico, Montana and Kansas before returning to the state she loved. Rena continually helped her family and friends in times of joy and sadness. She had a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. She gained true enjoyment from her career in real estate, particularly as co-broker of Suncrest Realty in Deming from 1985 to 2011. Rena served on the board of directors for the NM Baptist Foundation. She also served on the Deming Economic Development Board, the Deming International Rotary Club, Deming Luna County Board of Realtors and Deming Silver Spikes. Rena loved children and contributions can be made in her memory to the Baptist Children’s Home, 2200 S. Avenue I, Portales, NM, 88130 or the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Scott Brown, Lance Brown, Chad Brown, Mark Nunley, Randy Creighton, Michael Livingston and Brian Hess.
