Fred Frankl in Pool Jr. passed away peacefully on April 7, 2013, in Aransas Pass, Texas; he was 85. He was born to Fred Franklin Pool Sr. and Jewel Whitlow Pool on Nov. 12, 1927, in Waco, Texas.
He was a graduate of Artesia High School in 1944 and attended college in Ft. Worth, Texas, at Texas Christian University. Fred served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman stationed in New Orleans during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Fred Pool Drilling Inc. in Roswell, where he worked as an oil and gas contractor and producer for the past 40 years. He also served as the past president of the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association and he even achieved his private pilot’s license in his spare time. He then retired to Port Aransas, Texas, to fish and serve as an active member in the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Wanda Hicks. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Penta Jo Pool of Port Aransas, Texas; daughters, Pam Klee (John) of Denver, Penta Stanley (Bob) and Patti Janes, both of Charlotte, N.C.; son Fred Franklin Pool III (Susan) of Roswell; grandchildren, Piper Waddle (Darrin) and Paul Klee, both of Denver, Penta M. Stanley of London, Audrey Stanley of Charlotte, Jerrod Janes (Jessica) of New York City and Jade Taylor (Jordan) of Arlington, Texas.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Port Aransas, Texas, at 3 p.m. Rev. James Bruster will be ministering the service.
