A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Roswell for Cresencio Chencho Jaramillo, 81, who passed away in Citrus Heights, Calif.
Chencho was born and raised in Roswell, the eldest of 13 siblings of the Jaramillo family at 808 E. Bland St. Parents are Faustino and Andreita Jaramillo, who preceded him in death, along with brother Danny Jaramillo and infant twin siblings. Other siblings include Sal, Sara, Martha, Virgie, Juanita, Faustino Jr., Cecilia, Vicky and Carmen.
Chencho went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 20, 2012, and final interment will be in South Park Cemetery following Mass. The family will receive friends with lunch at St. John’s following the graveside service.
Chencho is survived by his wife of 57 years and sweetheart Katherine (Garcia), of the home; three children, Larry Jaramillo and wife Maria, of San Antonio, Texas, Theresa Ford and husband Bill, of Maryland, and Mark Jaramillo and wife Jackie, of California; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Chencho served our country as a Navy seaman and was awarded several commendations that included National Defense Services Medal and United Nations Service Medal. Chencho was a resident of Roswell until 1964, with the closing of Walker Air Force Base. Chencho relocated to California to McClellan Air Logistics Command, as his civil service position transferred.
