Poster contest
Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge would like to announce the start of the 2013 Dragonfly Festival Art Poster Contest. All students from kindergarten to fifth grade are encouraged to enter. Cash prizes will be awarded to all first place winners with a grand prize of $100. Artwork may be used to promote the 2013 Dragonfly Festival. The deadline to enter is April 30. Storm spotting
The Roswell/Chaves County Office of Emergency Management and the Pecos Valley Amateur Radio Club will host the NWS SKYWARN spotter training class on Wednesday, March 27, at the Daniels Leadership Center on the NMMI campus. The 2.5 hour classes will be taught by Tim Shy and Kerry Jones from the National Weather Service Albuquerque Forecast Office. Class will begin at 1:30 p.m. and be taught again at 6 p.m. The Daniels Leadership Center is located on the northwest corner of the NMMI campus with the entrance on [auth] West 19th Street across from the golf course. The public is invited to attend either class. This class is for knowledge only and participants are not required to become a storm watcher. There is no charge and advanced registration is not needed. Spring Break
Students and faculty at Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell will observe Spring Break from Saturday, March 30 through Friday, April 5. Saturday classes will resume April 6. The regular class schedule will resume April 8. All main campus offices will be open during Spring Break, observing regular campus hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. until noon. Annual hunt
The Roswell Recreation Department, Roswell Sertoma Club, Masons, and Noon Optimist Club have teamed up for the annual Easter Egg hunt at the Spring River Park and Zoo Saturday, March 30. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. and the event begins at 10 a.m. This year we are having an Easter toy drive of new and slightly used stuffed animals. We are also in need of bags of candy and Easter baskets. If you would wish to donate any of these items please bring them to the Yucca Recreation Center at 500. S Richardson Ave. The event is geared toward children ages 2-10 years of age. Egg hunt
Community Easter egg hunt
on Saturday, March 30, at 11:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 1224 W. Country Club Road, will include 2,000 eggs, Easter basket drawings, face paint and more!

Easter Parade
This year’s Easter Parade will take place Saturday, March 30, at the Chaves County Courthouse lawn. Wear your Easter finest and win prizes for all ages in the following categories: best Easter bonnet, best dressed, best vintage, best dressed pet, best push/pull float and best overall. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.; walking parade starts at 1 p.m. Free family photos!

Easter services
Easter services at Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Road, are set to take place Saturday, March 30, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 31, at 9 a.m. and again at 10:45 a.m. Rev. Rick Hale’s Easter message will be “Healthy Hope.” The Grace choir, band and orchestra will also present special Easter music titled “He is Alive!” We also have a free gift for all guests: Rick Warren’s booklet “What on Earth Am I Here For?” We hope you will join us!

Sunrise service
There will be an Easter Sunrise Service at 5:45 a.m. on Easter Sunday, March 31, on Mark Road, between Second Street and Country Club Road near Six-Mile Hill. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and a blanket. The community is welcome. For more information, call Maureen at 420-7554.

Resurrection Day
Join us for service Easter Sunday, March 31, at St. Paul Ministries, 300 N. Missouri Ave. at 10 a.m. There will be an Easter egg hunt following the service.
