NM man accused of hitting father with baseball bat

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — A Las Cruces man accused of beating his fa[auth] ther with an aluminum baseball bat during a dispute has been arrested.

Police tell the Las Cruces Sun-News ( that 27-year-old Vincent Lopez became upset as his parents were arguing Thursday, punched his 52-year-old father until he briefly lost consciousness and struck his father several times with the bat.

The father had bruises on his back, shoulders and head, but his injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Lopez is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery against a household member and evading or obstructing a peace officer.
