ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The case of an Albuquerque police officer who was involved in a fatal crash has been turned over to the district attorney for review.
Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston says his traffic investigators [auth] have completed an investigation into the Feb. 10 crash involving Albuquerque Police Sgt. Adam Casaus. Houston did not release any details about the investigators’ findings.
A spokeswoman with the district attorney’s office confirmed Thursday that the case was under review.
Casaus had said he was trying to track down a drunk driver before he slammed into another vehicle, killing a passenger and seriously injuring the driver.
Records show that no dispatchers told Casaus to look out for a drunk driver before the crash. Dispatch records obtained by various media outlets showed Casaus logged off his last call almost four hours before the crash.
