The Roswell Police Department greeted Victor Valdivia-Padilla, 47, Saturday when he arrived at the Roswell bus station from Mexico regarding a case that dates back to 2005.
Following the police interview on Saturday, Padilla was arrested on three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor. According to the affidavit of criminal complaint, the incidents started when the child was living with her mother in Hagerman. The then five-year-old victim said that this first incident with her mother’s boyfriend was the beginning of a series of molestations that continued after the family moved from Hagerman to Dexter and then from Dexter to two separate residences in Roswell. Altogether the sexual abuse from Padilla lasted until 2008 when the victim was 8-years-old.
The document states that the family had not reported the sexual assaults to the police until they learned that Padilla was returning from Mexico.
The incidents occurred when the mother was absent from home. The victim told officials of at least 10 assaults in the years 2005 and 2006. In 2007, when the girl was between seven and eight years old, the incidents increased in frequency so that whenever “they were alone at home, Victor would do this to her to two or three times a day” and the abuse continued until 2008.
Padilla is being held at Chaves County Detention Center on a $50,000 surety bond.
