Police: ‘Home alone’ 10-year-old stops NM burglary

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Police say a heist by three suspected burglars in Albuquerque was thwarted after a 10-year-old who was home alone called 911.

Albuquerque police spokeswoman Tasia [auth] Martinez says three teenagers were arrested Thursday following a frantic call by the child,

According to police, the would-be burglars broke into the Southwest Albuquerque home and started stuffing items into backpacks. But police say the 10-year-old somehow was able call 911 and officers quickly responded to the home.

Police say the three suspects were arrested and the stolen property was returned.

Authorities say at least two of the suspects may be linked to other burglaries in the area.
