Police Blotter: Resident doesn’t fall for $3M, car call

•Police were called to the 600 block of Sunrise Road, Tuesday, after a man received multiple phone calls from a Jamaica-based phone number. He was told that he had won $3 million and a Mercedes-Benz. He was instructed to obtain reloadable cash cards from Walmart. The caller asked for [auth] his address and bank account number. He told officials he had not given them the information, but became concerned when he was informed that someone would be coming to his home to contact him.
•Police received a walk-in report of fraud, Tuesday. The victim stated that someone had forged her name on a check for $433.08 that had been sent to her, but she had not received.

Police responded to a call from Walmart, 4500 N. Main St., Tuesday, where a loss prevention officer had detained two female subjects who had loaded $425.92 worth of items in a cart and some recycle bags and attempted to leave the store without paying.
