Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Ballard Chapel, for Melba Lee Caraway, 94, who passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Mission Arch Care Center. The Rev. Donald Price will be officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery.
Melba was born July 27, 1918, in Abilene, Texas. She married Mark Caraway in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1982. Melba was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Barrington.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, John M. Caraway and wife Cheryl, of Carlsbad, and Alan L. Caraway and wife Kay, of Ft. Sumner; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Melba lived in Roswell since 1945 coming from Texas. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church. Melba was a past member of Daughters of the Nile and Beauceant. She was a past golf champion at both Roswell Country Club and city of Roswell. Melba was a life master in bridge. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Melba will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
