Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Grace Community Church, for Patricia Ann Deets, 81, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Artesia General Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. The Rev. Rick Hale will be officiating, with burial [auth] to follow in South Park Cemetery.

Patricia was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Ponca City, Okla., to J.C. Bell and Opal McCary. Her parents preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband Bill Deets in 1996, and her sister Wanda Richards.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Mac Deets and wife Karen, of Alto; daughter Jan Gass and husband Kurt, of Roswell; brother-in-law Charles Richards, of Farmington; her grandchildren, Shawn Deets and wife Olivia, of Ruidoso, Brad Gass and wife Stefanie, of Albuquerque, Crysten Gass and fiancé Jared Pope, of Roswell, and Ryan Gass, of Roswell; one great-granddaughter Ariel Deets; and special niece and nephew, Charlotte Richards, of Farmington, and Jason Richards of Chula Vista, Calif.

Patricia was raised in Graham, Texas, and graduated from Graham High School in 1948. She was a majorette in the marching band in high school. Patricia was an accomplished accordion player and played for the USO. On Aug. 6, 1948, she married Bill Deets in Glenwood Springs, Colo. They homesteaded in Anchorage, Alaska, in early ’50s for three years and moved to Roswell in 1956, where they acquired the Air Base Gate Drug Store and later purchased The Medicine Shop in Roswell. Patricia was a member of the Elks Does, DAR, Eagles Auxiliary and Assistance League. She was proud that she was a direct descendant of Thomas Jefferson. Patricia loved spending a lot of family time at their cabin in Ruidoso and playing cards with her friends.

The family is especially thankful to Jennifer Madison and the Bee Hive family.

Serving as pallbearers are Shawn Deets, Jason Richards, Brad Gass, Ryan Gass, Jared Pope and Wade Thomas.
