AMARILLO—Elsie Irene Raney, 88, was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Las Cruces, to Emmett and Maude Lloyd. She passed away Feb. 15, 2013, in Amarillo, Texas. Elsie was raised in and around Roswell. She moved to Amarillo to be near her daughter after her retirement from Methodist Hospital in [auth] Lubbock. She was past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1475 and volunteered at the VA Hospital. She cleaned the kitchen at Polly’s and did ironing at home. Her favorite pastime was crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Raney, her parents, three brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her two daughters, Ginger Westerby and husband Ken of Amarillo and Sandra Blythe and husband Wayne of Hartzhorne, Okla.; sister Claudine Browning and husband Dick of Roswell; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her four-legged bed partner Rusty and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East.
