CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) — Police say investigators are still trying to find out what happened to an 88-year-old Carlsbad man who was found buried in pieces in his backyard.
KRQE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/VK3hPv) that Carlsbad detectives are waiting on crucial evidence to determine how Thomas Allumbaugh died. Nearly two months have passed since Carlsbad police made a gruesome discovery and dug up the dismembered remains of Allumbaugh. He was found buried and stuffed in trash bags in different places in his backyard.
Detective Lt. Bryan Burns says investigators are still conducting interviews related to case and are waiting on results from the Office of the Medical Investigator.
No arrests have been made.
Detectives say they have persons of interest in the case but have not released any names.
