Robert John Ratigan passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. Bob was born in Chicago, on Aug. 10, 1925, to Peter Joseph Ratigan and Elizabeth (Gallagher ) Ratigan. His parents were Irish immigrants.
Bob was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater in counter intelligence under Gen. George S. Patton.
He worked for many years in the advertising printing industry as a pressman and salesman. Later he worked as a manufactured housing salesman until [auth] his retirement.
Bob loved sports. He played semi-pro baseball while in high school. Later he played golf and was a pro-am bowler. He loved playing horseshoes at family functions.
Bob loved traveling. He had lived from coast to coast, east to west, and visited most of the states in between.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his older sister Cathrine Gallagher (Frank); his older brother Peter Joseph Ratigan (Christine); his first wife Dolores (Dee) Antanias Ratigan and their daughter Carol Louise Quigg (John); his second wife Phyllis Rickle Ratigan; and son Lonnie Dale.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years Louise Schoonmaker Ratigan; his daughter in-law Tam Egan; two grandchildren, Kayla and Kamran Heth and Lonnie, Chandler and Rylee Rickel, of Ukiah, Calif.; his niece Patricia Small (Ron), and children Tony, Tammy, Mike, Eric and Brenna, all of Maine.
He was a kind and loving person and his family will miss him very much.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robin Cox officiating.
