Around Town: Party celebrates senior birthdays, New Year’s

Seniors Party
Senior Circle’s January birthday/New Year’s party is Wednesday, Jan. 9, [auth] at 3 p.m. The party is open to all members and prospective members at the Senior Circle facility in the Wilshire Center, 2801 N. Main St., next to Family Dollar. There will be refreshments, door prizes and entertainment by the Singin’ Seniors. Senior Circle is an Eastern New Mexico Medical Center resource that offers travel, exercise, health education and much more. For additional information, call the office at 623-2311.

Morning Garden Club
The Morning Garden Club will meet Thursday, Jan. 10, at 9:30 a.m. at Patsy Miller’s home, 4004 South Springs Loop. The program, “Hummingbird Species,” will be presented by Bill Flynt, photographer and board member of Friends of Bitter Lake.

Alpha Iota
The Alpha Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, in the home of Gloria Boston. For more information, call 622-1546.

Dr. William Logue, a thoracic, cardiac, vascular and general surgeon, has been rescheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11. Healthsense is at Senior Circle in the Wilshire Center, 2801 N. Main St., next to Family Dollar. The talk is open to the public and a light lunch will be served. Senior Circle is a resource of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center for people in the community age 50 or older. For more information, call 623-2311.

Emmaus Gathering
The first 2013 Emmaus Community Gathering will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at Aldersgate Methodist Church. Our potluck will begin at 6 p.m., please bring a covered dish. Worship will follow at 7 p.m. Viola Martinez will be our fourth-day speaker. Also, if anyone is interested in working any upcoming walks you must attend a training first. We will be having a training session Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Aldersgate Methodist Church. Gary Verhoeven will be giving this training.

Pancake Breakfast
There will be a pancake breakfast to benefit the American Red Cross on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 7-9 a.m. at Applebee’s, 2201 N. Main St. Cost is $5, no carry outs. Tickets for the event are available at the Red Cross, 1400 W. Second St. suite M. Call 622-4370 for more information.
