Underage drinking, DWI focus of county commission meeting

The Chaves County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing regarding whether the county should adopt a property tax rebate ordinance that would benefit low income tax payers during its monthly meeting [auth] Thursday at 9 a.m. at the County Administrative Center, 1 St. Mary’s Place.

The board also will decide whether to approve an agreement that would provide the county with $13,000 in funding for a program to raise awareness of the dangers of underage drinking and increase law enforcement efforts against it.

The board also will consider a resolution allowing the county to apply for funding that would support programs and services to prevent and reduce DWI incidents.
