Police seek more information in stabbing case

Police responded to a call about a stabbing in the 2300 block of North Garden Avenue. According to police records, a man stumbled out into the street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers arrived at the scene to find a large quantity of blood on the bathroom floor. Due to the severity of his injuries, the 49-year-old victim was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and CID was [auth] brought in to investigate.

The police said that the victim had known his assailant for about six months. He had been sharing his home with Sabastiano Bersane, 38, for a period of two weeks. When Bursane was told that he and his girlfriend could not stay in the residence indefinitely, Bersane allegedly beat the victim with a baseball bat and threatened to kill him with a kitchen knife.

The Roswell Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant against Bersane for aggravated battery and aggravated assault. Bersane has a history of violent behavior. He was arrested in August of 2012 on charges of aggravated battery (with great bodily harm) of a household member. The jury trial for the previous charges is scheduled to take place in Fifth District Court on March 5.

The RPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Bersane. He is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. The picture of Bursane was taken following his arrest in August. He has brown eyes, but may have shaved his head, for he is currently described as bald.
