ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A man accused of providing heroin to another man who died of a drug overdose now faces drug charges in federal court.
The Albuquerque Journal reports [auth] (http://bit.ly/RmyJpf) that 23-year-old Joseph Dyson is charged with distribution of heroin with death resulting and distribution of a controlled substance to a person under 21 in the August 2011 death of 18-year-old Cameron Weiss.
A criminal complaint filed in federal court against Dyson was unsealed Wednesday.
Dyson appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Scott on Friday and waived a detention hearing.
Weiss’ mother, Jennifer Weiss, founded the Heroin Awareness Committee in 2010 and, along with other parents, has pushed for more drug addiction programs.
