A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Doug Mills, for John “Jack” Ashley Blevins II, 89, who passed Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.
Jack was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Cambridge, Mass., to John Ashley Blevins Sr. and Marie McKay. His parents preceded him in death. He married Paula [auth] Casey on July 29, 1944, in Portales. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Jack is survived by his longtime love of his life Flora Danby; one sister Barbara Gayne, of Marblehead, Mass.; his son John Ashley Blevins III, of Albuquerque; daughters, Judy Martin, of Albuquerque, Pam and Pat Flanagan, of Maitland, Fla., and Lynn Blevins, of Roswell; seven grandchildren, Jody Bratcher, Michael Bratcher, Timothy McQuink, Kelly Tomlinson, Sean Flanagan, Ashley Dennison and Cindy Sciandra; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Jack was a Senior Olympian and competed all over the United States. He was very involved at the Roswell Adult Center, J.O.Y. Center, and with the Senior Circle. He loved to play tennis and pool. He will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
