Lupe S. Martinez was called home to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012.
Lupe had a great passion for people and it showed by the many friends he had and the missions he served in his church and the community. Yet his concern was for people to know Christ and the power of Salvation through [auth] Him.
He was born in Carlsbad, Aug. 27, 1948, to Ricardo and Maria Martinez, and was raised in Dexter. He was employed at Glacier Technologies the past two years. He was a licensed funeral director/embalmer for more than 40 years, and loved serving families in their time of need. During this time he served families in Roswell, Las Vegas, N.M., Santa Fe, and El Paso, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers and two sisters.
Lupe is survived by his loving wife Olivia; son Joe (Leslie); grandson Angel Jose; sisters, Agapita Munoz (Apolonio), Lillie Montoya (Frank), Elvira Medrano (Reynaldo) and Helen Cabrera (Antonio Elias); brother Roy Martinez; three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law and several nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Eastwood Church of Christ. 10104 Album St., El Paso, Texas. Cremation followed, with burial in northern New Mexico.
