Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for Modesto D. Castellon, 72, of Roswell, who passed away Dec. 18, 2012, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center surrounded by his family. The Rev. Chris Mullennix of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate.

Modesto was born in Midland, Texas, Feb. 24, 1940, to Romulo Castellon and Antonia Del Vosquez. He married Gloria Jaso on Jan. 18, 1962, in Avenal, Calif.

Modesto moved to Roswell to raise his family. He enjoyed working in his [auth] yard, and working for Berry Farms in Dexter for five years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandkids, who were his world, “Papa’s kings and princess.” Anyone who knew him would tell you he was born to work. He loved to stay busy; he was always on the go.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Gloria Castellon, of the family home; daughter Sally Kimbrell and her husband Manuel, of Roswell; his granddaughters, Modesta Orona and her husband John, of Roswell, and Monicka Martinez; six great-grandkids, “Papa’s Kings,” Santiago Martinez-Orona, Dominick Orona, Urijah Orona, Nathaniel Amaro, Andrewriah Amaro and “Papa’s Princess” Savannah Amaro; four sisters, Julia Munez, of Odessa, Texas, Elena Castellon, of Odessa, Margie Morgan, of Roswell, and Mary Ruiz of Bakersfield, Calif.; seven brothers, Leandro, Florento, Celestino, Henry, Chavo, and Alberto Castellon, all of Bakersfield, Calif., and Lolly Castellon, of Nebraska; two brothers in-law, Joe Castelo, of Roswell, and Jose Reyes, of Midland; his stepmother, Santos Castellon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Oliva Castelo, Rosa Reyes and Fransisca Sanchez; and three brothers, Ted Castellon, Martin Castellon and Daniel Castellon.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Orona, Ismael Ruiz, Ruben Martinez, Santiago Orona and Frank Amaro.

The family would like to thank Eastern New Mexico Medical Center and Dr. Jakins for their support.

I will say goodbye for now but not forever.
