A rosary will be held for Leandro Sanchez, 77, of Roswell, at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Assumption Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 12:10 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Pacquing officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery. Leandro passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.
Leandro was born in Clovis, May 28, 1935, to Miguel and Victoriana Sanchez. He married Ermalinda Arguello on Jan. 7, 1956. He worked for the State Highway Department for 33 years. He loved to speak of Yaso, walk, swim, run and box. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and was very devoted to his Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife Ermalinda of the home; three children, Leo Sanchez Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, of Roswell, Albert Sanchez and Anna Gonzales, of Roswell, and Harold Anthony Sanchez and Martha Gonzales, of Roswell; three grandchildren, Courtney Walker, Stephanie Sanchez and Leo M. Sanchez III; three sisters, Tina Lopez, of Clovis, Esther Zamora and her husband Paul, of Fort Sumner, and Chonita Roybal and her husband Sylvester, of Fort Sumner; three great-grandchildren, Liani Sanchez, Gabriella Gallegos and Karlee Sanchez; and his special extended family, Kristianna Zamora, Priscilla Lopez, Aundrea Torrero and Paul Zamora Jr.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Anna Gonzales for the care and dedication she gave to our father.
Leandro was preceded in death by his parents Miguel and Victoriana Sanchez; his brother Arnulfo Sanchez; two sisters, Lucy Roybal and Julia Aragon; and his brother-in-law Ramon Lopez.
