Man fatally shot during burglary

A man was shot and killed, Tuesday afternoon, in a burglary that went horribly wrong. The Roswell Police [auth] Department responded to a shots fired call in the 1500 block of West Third Street around 2 p.m.

During their investigation, police discovered that the shooting resulted when a burgary was interrupted. The incident left one man deceased.

Officers and investigators spent the afternoon interviewing possible witnesses and searching for the suspect. The information available Tuesday evening was limited. Little was released to the public besides the fact that the suspect was described as being 6-feet tall.

The victim’s name has been withheld pending notification of the family, although those family and friends who had been called in to the police department around 4 p.m. wept when they heard the news.

    Although this is no consolation to the family members of the victim, it appears the burglar thought the house had been unoccupied for some time and thought it was safe to break in and not be apprehended.
