ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A newly elected New Mexico state lawmaker is hitting back at claims that she does not live in district which she now represents.
The Albuquerque Journal (http://bit.ly/Rs5eTS) reports Democrat Patricia Roybal Caballero says claims by the candidate she defeated are unfounded.
Republican Jose Orozco, who lost to Roybal Caballero in the House District 13 race Nov. 6, had filed a complaint with the secretary of state. Orozco alleges she resides in another district, not at the address listed on her voter registration.
Her attorney, Ray Vargas, says Roybal Caballero moved after the election but their new address is still in the same district.
A spokesman for the secretary of state says Roybal Caballero’s response is currently being reviewed.
