The Three Amigo’s for the Nino’s will be taking new toy donations for the children of Chaves County Toys for Tots. We will be at Wal-Mart on Saturday Dec. 1 and Sunday Dec. 2. No donation is too small or big. We will be distributing toys for all ages up to 18-years-old on Dec. 15 at Yucca Recreation Center. Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge will host a Refuge Discovery Tour on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 9 a.m., at the Joseph R. Skeen Visitor Center. The tour will last about two hours. This is an opportunity to see closed areas of the refuge and learn how the refuge maintains and improves habitat for threatened and endangered species. The tour will include light walking. MUFON to Meet
The December meeting of the Chaves County section of MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, will convene from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, in classroom LRC-121 in the Learning Resource Center on the Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell campus. The line up for the annual Light Parade on Saturday, Dec. 1, will be on Grand Avenue (in front of the Wool Bowl) at 5 p.m. with the start of the parade at 6 p.m. The theme this year is in celebration of New Mexico’s 100th birthday so bring something to cover your headlight as they are not allowed. If you are going to walk in the parade you must wear lights.
RMAC Open House
The Roswell Museum and Art Center will have its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 5-7 pm. The event is free. Celebrate the season with holiday refreshments, music and song by the Tom Blake Trio, stories and songs with Mrs. Claus―the First Lady of Frost, hands-on make ‘n take art, and our courtyard chiminea and marshmallow roast. This is a fun family event for kids and adults. The Museum Store will have special discounts and fabulous gift ideas. Local historian John LeMay will be available to sign his books.
Resonate: A Worship Gathering
A worship gathering will take place at Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Road, Saturday, Dec. 1, from 7-8:30 p.m. It will be a night of worship designed to be in a less-structured environment and a more reflective experience. The event is free with coffee and refreshments to be available afterward.
Country Charm Dance
There is a dance Saturday, Dec. 1, from 7-10 p.m. at the Roswell Adult and Senior Center. Country Charm will play for your dancing pleasure. Refreshments will be available. Cost is $5 per person. The Historical Society of Southeast New Mexico, 200 N. Lea Ave., is going to have an open house at the museum Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1-4 p.m. There will be refreshments to include wassail and door prizes. Flying J Wranglers
The Flying J Wranglers of Ruidoso will bring their “White Mountain Christmas” concert to Christ’s Church on Sunday, Dec. 2, with performances at 4 and 6:30 p.m. Both concerts will be at Christ’s Church, 2200 N. The Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell Community Band will present its annual winter concert on Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell Performing Arts Center.
