Jan Elizabeth Clark was born on Jan. 9, 1951, in Crockett, Texas, and remained there until her graduation from Crockett High School. She died on Nov. 12, 2012, in Roswell, after a long battle with cancer. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University and graduated from Angelina College Division of Nursing. In 1975, she married the love of her life, James (Jim) Clark and became his partner in Clark’s Department Store.
In 1990, she returned to her first love, nursing. She continued to work in nursing after she and Jim relocated to Roswell.
Jan’s life was always about others — whether about her patients, her friends, or most importantly, her family. She was loyal and devoted to those she loved. She is survived by her husband Jim Clark and their children, Rex Clark, Rebecca Clark Edwards, and Jaie Clark Oberlin and her husband Peter. She also leaves her grandson Kyle Edwards and the amazing memory of her second grandson Todd James Edwards. In addition, she is survived by her mother-in-law Margery Clark and her brother and sister-in-law Edd and Janice Harkins. Jan was preceded in death by Todd and her mother Dewey Merriwether Harkins.
A private memorial service was held in Roswell. Those wishing to remember Jan, the life she lived and her last brave journey, may do so by making a contribution to a scholarship fund that has been established at Angelina College to be used for nursing scholarships.
