First American Bank has decked its halls and offices for the Winter Wonderland auction benefiting the Chaves County CASA Program, scheduled for 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at the bank’s main branch, 111 E. Fifth St.
Both the main branch and its branch at 3220 N. Main St. are showing off holiday spirit with trees, wreaths and statues made with materials donated by community members and local businesses.
Attendees of the auction will be able to bid on all display items and other unique gifts, such as a black Labrador puppy named “Holly.” All proceeds will support the Chaves County CASA Program’s work with abused and neglected children, which includes advocacy projects and transition services.
“The recession has been hard on the nonprofit world,” said Carrie-Leigh Cloutier, executive director of Chaves County CASA. “But we’re determined to keep our services going and this fundraiser makes it possible.”
The free event will feature live and silent auctions, as well as food and drinks. “It will be a good way to get to know us, even if you don’t buy a thing,” Cloutier said.
Both locations also will feature a CASA Giving Tree, which allows the community to purchase a gift specifically requested by children.
In a statement, First American Bank president Shane Hall said it was an honor and privilege to host the event, along with Xcel Energy and Lovelace Regional Hospital, for the eighth consecutive year.
“Christmas is such a special and happy time of year for many of us,” he said in the statement. “Unfortunately, this is not the case for many children in Chaves County. … However, we all have the opportunity to make some of their dreams a reality through the Chaves County CASA Program.”
The decorations will be on display until the auction. Cloutier said there is still space for more contributions.
