Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, for David Garry “Dave” Owen who passed away Nov. 7, 2012, in Katy, Texas. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. John Fuss of First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Dave was born in Roswell on April 22, 1959, to Garry and Pauline “Polly” Owen, both of whom preceded him in death. Growing up in Roswell, he was active in Boy Scouts, the Order of DeMolay and band, and graduated from Goddard High School in 1977. Dave then spent a year in New Zealand as an exchange student before completing a degree in Chemical Engineering at New Mexico State University. He later obtained his MBA at Our Lady of the Lake University of Austin, Texas.
Dave spent his almost 30-year career in the energy business, working in many capacities, but mostly related to the design, construction and financing of natural gas pipelines and compressor stations.
Dave loved to ride motorcycles, on the road and off, and even did some off-road racing as a teenager. He and his wife Sylvia, son Daniel, and many of their friends enjoyed motorcycle road trips and camping trips in the mountains where they rode motorcycles and four-wheelers.
Dave is survived by his wife Sylvia, son Daniel Willoughby and much-loved pets Heidi and Nevada. He is also survived by his sister Judy Dvorak and her husband Neal; niece Kristin Coss, her husband Marcus and their sons Owen and Kolton; nephew Tyler Cox and his daughter Halle; and by his uncle and aunt Don and Bonnie TeSelle, their children and grandchildren.
