5-year-old has identity stolen

•Police took a walk-in report of identity theft, Tuesday, after a family received a call from a collection agency about an unpaid electric bill of $306.78 from a residence at 508 S. Wyoming. The bill covered a period dating from June 2009 to January 2010. The person reporting the incident stated that the person named on the account is 5 years [auth] old.


•Police received a report of fraud, Tuesday. The victim said she had received pay for a job. The victim opened a bank account with her paycheck and was given a bank card. The card was removed from her bag. She got a phone call from the bank telling her the original check was bad, the account was overdrawn and the bank was pursuing criminal charges against her.


Police were dispatched to the 400 block of East Fifth Street, Monday. A representative of the homeowner reported a refrigerator worth $400 was stolen.


Police arrested a man, Tuesday, who was found “hanging from and swinging from a piece of copper wire” in the 900 block of East Jefferson. The suspect was ordered to the ground and arrested.


A 37-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting, Tuesday. The suspect took two magnets from Kmart and left without paying.
